Meet Kelly – our team coordinator and client care manager extraordinaire and former rock singer. (yes, you read that correctly.)
Kelly has an energetic, caring, and empathetic personality. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is a people person through and through. Anyone who has met Kelly knows that she is someone that you feel like you’ve known forever after talking with her for only a short moment. She’s the heart of Robles Real Estate Group and we’re so lucky to have her as a part of the Robles family!
How did you get started in real estate?
I always loved renovating homes and when my kids would be at preschool or napping I spent that time looking at homes online. I was always very interested in Real Estate, home design & decor. An opportunity to enter the industry came in 2008 to be a Real Estate assistant.
What’s your favourite part about it?
First and foremost, being there for our clients. I also love that it is not a routine job. Every client’s wants and needs are different. Every home is different, as is every situation and it keeps it fresh and exciting. I feel deeply for every client because this is one of the most stressful times of their lives, buying or selling their biggest asset. I am so grateful if I can help make it easier for them!
What did you do before Real Estate?
I was in sales/management prior to having kids, in the retail and cosmetics industry. When I stayed home with my kids we had a plumbing and renovation business. I also had a mystery shopping company! I loved doing that and I was able to work around my kids or take them with me!
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A broadcaster, or a singer in a rock band.Kelly was a lead singer in a band in the 80’s!! Check her out!!!
If you weren’t working in real estate, what would your dream job be?
A life coach ~ It’s a thing! I love helping people.
What has been the hardest part about working virtually for you?
Personally, the hardest part is not being able to physically go to each of our client’s homes and meet them. I miss being there and the face to face. I have had to adapt how I do things and still maintain a strong connection with our clients. Also, I am a bit of a workaholic so I find myself in my office at midnight some days. The easiest : Not having to do my hair and makeup every day!
Any surprising revelations?
That I can work from home! I had to change a lot of things and adjust my home office, but I did it and it is working.
What’s your number one tip for combating distractions when working from home?
Don’t buy a puppy like we did! Definitely a distraction, so much so that she is in dog daycare now!
What are your past-times outside of work?I love golfing, cooking, home decor, travelling, singing & playing the piano. My husband plays guitar and sings too, so it is often a jam night at our house.
What is your favourite food/meal?
I love sushi. I could eat it every night.
Favourite meal to cook/share? I don’t have a favourite. I am passionate about cooking and I love that it brings people together. Growing up on the Prairies, the cold winters always meant gathering with friends and family sharing food and stories. There is nothing better! The preparation of a meal is a gift to your family or guests and to do that and then see the enjoyment they get out of a tasty meal and laughing & talking makes me feel good. When we entertain, my husband and I prep and cook together. There is always a little wine, good music and maybe a little dance in the kitchen too!
What is your favourite song at the moment?
It’s “Times like these” by the Foo Fighters. It is very appropriate.
Genre?
I like everything from Jazz to hard rock.
Favourite song to sing?
Oh, that’s hard. I have a lot. Boots or Hearts by Tragically Hip. Some Kind of Wonderful by Grand Funk Railroad.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
I am obsessed with Winners and Sephora. The amount of makeup and hair products I have are insane.
What would be the title of your autobiography
“From Rock n Roll to Rocking Chair and Everything in Between” (My husband says it should be called “ Don’t interrupt me I’m talking.”)Kelly and her husband, Mike
How would you describe yourself in a sentence?
I would say Caring, ambitious, loyal, a lover of people, and she starts each day with gratitude.
Do you have any secret talents?
I can dance. I don’t know if it would be considered a talent, but I like to rip up a dance floor now and then. My mind says “go” and then my body says ” no” for a good week after!
Country life/city life?
My dream is to have both. But~ If I had to choose it would be the city, as I love energy, restaurants, music venues, and the ability to walk to everything.
Say you’re independently wealthy and don’t have to work, what would you do with your time? I would like to travel with my husband and golf all over the world. I would also like to establish a program where dance, instruments and instruction were available for free to children who would not otherwise have the opportunity.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
So many to choose from! I love advice and accept it freely and offer it freely. My kids just love it! lol! I have to offer a few. The simplest one came from my Grandma “This too shall pass.” It may pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass. The second one is to use adversity as an opportunity. Every loss leads to an opportunity and every adversity leads to new possibilities. 3rd: Never settle.5 Fun facts about Kelly: 1: I was the lead singer in rock bands in the 80’s.Kelly and the rock band!2: I entered Disco Dance competitions – when disco was huge and won a few trophies. 3: I was an athlete.
